How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.

How We Share Your Information

With Other Users

OurBar is a social app. Certain information is visible to other users by design:

You control what you share. Private inventory items and personal notes are never shared without your explicit action.

With Service Providers

We share information with trusted third-party service providers who help us operate the App:

Provider Purpose Data Shared
Supabase Database, authentication, and file storage All user data stored in the App
Expo / EAS App distribution and over-the-air updates Device identifiers, app version
Apple App distribution via the App Store As required by Apple's platform policies
Anthropic Identifying bottles from photos you scan The photo you submit for scanning
Groq Generating cocktail concierge answers Your question and a summary of your bar inventory
OpenAI Cocktail concierge answers, when Groq is unavailable Your question and a summary of your bar inventory
RevenueCat Managing OurBar+ subscriptions and entitlements Your account identifier and subscription status
Sentry Crash and error reporting Diagnostic data, app version, device type
PostHog Product analytics: understanding which features are used Usage events and your account identifier
Cloudflare Hosting ourbar.app, including web invite pages Standard web request data such as IP address

The AI providers listed above are accessed through their commercial APIs, whose terms do not permit submitted content to be used for training their models. We do not use their consumer products, which carry different data practices.

All service providers are contractually obligated to use your information only to provide services to us and in accordance with this policy.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

AI Features

Two features in OurBar send your information to third-party AI providers. Both are optional: you can use the App fully without either.

Bottle scanning

When you scan a bottle, the photo you take is sent to Anthropic's API so the label can be identified and matched to our catalog. We do not store the photo. It is transmitted for identification, and what we keep is the resulting bottle information added to your inventory, not the image itself.

Cocktail concierge

When you ask the concierge what to pour, your question is sent along with a summary of your bar inventory to Groq, or to OpenAI if Groq is unavailable, so an answer can be generated.

Unlike bottle photos, the text of your concierge questions is stored in your account, together with which cocktail was recommended and how many requests you have made. We keep this to enforce usage limits on free accounts, to understand which questions the feature answers badly, and to improve it. This data is deleted when you delete your account.

What we do not do

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers operated by Supabase, Inc. with data centers in the United States. We implement industry-standard security measures including:

No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Specifically:

When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

You may delete your account at any time from the Profile tab in the App — scroll to the bottom and tap "Delete account."

Push Notifications

OurBar can send push notifications when you opt in. We send notifications for activity in your groups, flights you are participating in, events you are invited to, discoveries from friends you follow, and updates to your bar — such as when your shelf can suddenly make a cocktail you have saved.

You can turn off any category from Settings → Notifications in the App, or disable notifications entirely from your device's system settings. We do not send marketing or promotional push notifications.

Children's Privacy

OurBar is intended for users of legal drinking age in their jurisdiction. The App is not directed to children under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a minor without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information.

If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, please contact us immediately at [email protected].

California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

To submit a California privacy rights request, contact us at [email protected].

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, sending a notification through the App.

Your continued use of OurBar after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
