Privacy Policy

Effective: May 10, 2026
Last updated: April 21, 2026
Version: 1.0
This Privacy Policy describes how Eighth Ventures LLC ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with your use of Hallucination (the "App"). By using Hallucination, you agree to the data practices described in this policy.

Summary

We designed Hallucination to minimize data collection:

Information Eighth Ventures Does Not Directly Collect

Eighth Ventures LLC does not directly collect, store, or transmit to our systems any information about you, including:

All game data is stored locally on your device using iOS's standard UserDefaults system. This data never leaves your device through our systems. If you uninstall the App, all locally stored data is removed from your device.

Information Collected by Third Parties

Two third-party services used by the App collect limited information. We disclose this below for full transparency.

Apple (In-App Purchases and App Store)

Hallucination offers one optional in-app purchase, Remove Ads ($2.99 USD, one-time, non-consumable). This purchase is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit.

Apple handles all payment processing. We do not receive your Apple ID, payment information, name, or any other identifying details from Apple. We receive only the StoreKit transaction verification necessary to grant your purchase entitlement, which is then stored locally on your device.

Apple's handling of your purchase and device identity is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.

Google AdMob (Advertising)

For users who have not purchased Remove Ads, Hallucination displays rewarded video advertisements and banner advertisements through Google AdMob.

Ad Type Frequency
Rewarded video Only shown when you voluntarily watch in exchange for in-game rewards
Banner Displayed in limited contexts as disclosed within the App

Google AdMob may collect:

Data Type Purpose
Device Identifier (IDFA) Used for personalized advertising if you grant tracking permission via the App Tracking Transparency prompt
Advertising Data Which ads were shown, interactions with them
Device Technical Data Device type, operating system version, country-level geographic region

Google's ad servers receive traffic during ad requests. The domains involved are disclosed in the App's privacy manifest and include googleads.g.doubleclick.net, googleadservices.com, googlesyndication.com, googletagmanager.com, googletagservices.com, googleusercontent.com, and doubleclick.net.

We do not receive this data from AdMob. We receive only aggregated reporting about ad performance and revenue through the AdMob publisher dashboard.

Google's data practices are described in the Google Privacy Policy and AdMob's policies.

App Tracking Transparency

Hallucination uses Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework to request your permission before allowing AdMob to use your Advertising Identifier (IDFA) for personalized advertising. The ATT prompt appears after the first-run welcome screen.

The purpose string shown in the ATT prompt is: "This identifier will be used to show you ads that are more relevant to you."

If you deny this request, the App continues to function normally. AdMob will serve non-personalized ads instead of personalized ones. You may change your decision at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Your Choices Regarding Advertising

You have several options to control advertising in the App:

What We Store Locally on Your Device

For full transparency, the App stores the following data locally via iOS UserDefaults:

Data Purpose
Game progress (runs played, best wave, total enemies defeated) Track your in-game progression
In-game currency (Core Shards earned) Meta-progression across runs
Unlock state (towers and abilities unlocked) Remember what you've earned
Purchase entitlement (whether Remove Ads is purchased) Grant Remove Ads benefit
User preferences (sound, music, game speed) Restore your settings between sessions
Onboarding flags (welcome screen shown, hints displayed) Skip redundant onboarding

This data never leaves your device through our systems. We have no server that receives or stores any of it.

Children's Privacy

Hallucination is rated 12+ on the Apple App Store. The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from children. Because Eighth Ventures LLC does not directly collect personal information from any user, Hallucination complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by design at our layer.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has somehow had information collected through use of the App, please contact us at [email protected] and we will assist as we are able.

Your Rights

Because Eighth Ventures LLC does not directly collect personal information, most data-subject rights under GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, and similar privacy laws do not apply to our handling of your data — we have none.

However:

California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act. We have no personal information to disclose, delete, or correct because we do not collect any.

EU and UK residents (GDPR / UK GDPR)

Google AdMob uses a Consent Management Platform to request your consent for personalized advertising in EU/UK jurisdictions. This is AdMob's own compliance flow. Eighth Ventures LLC processes no personal data itself.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, surface notice within the App.

Your continued use of the App after the "Last updated" date changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
